Drinking an iced cold beer on a hot summer is a major American pastime. Sure, drinking beer is a favorite pastime of many nationalities throughout the world, but did you know that the state of Colorado is ranked 3rd in the world in volume of brewpubs and craft breweries? The state of Colorado offers some of the nation’s finest summertime and wintertime scenery and is a top vacation destination for active travelers. Not many people in your group of friends would object to spending a day of the trip touring local breweries. If you’re traveling with girls, just offer up the argument “where there’s beer, there’s boys…” and I don’t many guys that would object to it! The Denver area, in particular holds the #1 rank nationally in beer production per capita and second in the number of breweries. Anheuser-Busch, the manufacturer of Budweiser, is based in Fort Collins, and offers complimentary tours and features a Hospitality Room where guests can sample their favorite brews. Another popular brewery in the Denver area is Boulder Beer located in Boulder, just outside of Denver. Before visiting, get a taste of the rowdiness at www.boulderbeer.com. They offer a somewhat whimsical tour of how the beer is produced and offer a complimentary sample platter at the end of the tour. In a day’s time you can easily cover 3-4 breweries in the Denver metropolitan area. Just make sure that you’ve settled on a designated driver in advance and fill them up on root beer so they don’t feel as if they are missing out on as much on the “beer” experience!
