Group travel seems to flourish in Tokyo, Japan, as the city’s vast offerings appeal to such a broad range of interests that everyone ends up satisfied. Tokyo, literally meaning “Eastern capital,” lies in central Japan, on the east coast. It holds the title of the most populous metropolitan area in the world, with over 35 million inhabitants in the greater metropolitan area.
An excellent public transportation system will guide you around the city, dropping you off at any place you hope to see. Taxis are also prevalent and widely-used by visitors to the city. And luckily for tourists, Tokyo hosts a little something (or a lot) to pique everyone’s fancies.
History buffs beeline for exquisitely beautiful ancient temples, like the Asakusa Temple, that dot the town, giving tourists a special peak into Japanese tradition and culture. The architecture of these temples is wonderfully unique, drawing in the eye and holding your attention to its gentle curves, delicate details, and complimentary colors.
Nature lovers head straight for the famous Japanese gardens, such as the Hamarikyu Garden, home to a sweet-smelling peony garden, grove of plum trees, and beautiful greenery. The tranquil garden is like a step back in time, as you enjoy Japanese sweets and macha, served in the style of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.
Believe it or not, visitors also love visiting Tsukiji Fish Market, the biggest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world. Open most mornings, except Sundays and holidays, the best time to visit the Tsukiji Fish Market is between 5:00AM and 9:00AM. You won’t see many Japanese casually walking around, but don’t be surprised to see a good handful of tourists eagerly drinking in the scenes around them.
Those younger visitors, both in age and spirit, love spending a day in Tokyo Disnyeland. The 116 acre theme park was the first Disney park to be built outside the United States and is divided into the four Classic Disney lands (Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland, and Tomorrowland) as well as two mini lands (Critter Country and Mickey’s Toontown).
Clearly, Tokyo’s diverse culture, rich traditions, and modern feel provide every visitor in your travel group with myriad sights and sounds to fill their days.
