If you and your friends are spending some time in Paris and the hustle and bustle of city living is getting to be a bit much, then a day trip to Versailles might be in order. Besides Euro Disneyland, Versailles is one of the most popular destinations outside of Paris for tourists. If you are traveling with a group of 30 or more, you will need to make your travel arrangements 4 months in advance and they should be made in writing.
Although, the drive from Paris to Versailles is less than an hour long, traveling on the train is effortless and a pleasant way to see the countryside. The station is only an 8-minute walk to the Palace on the Line C of the RER. A 1 day pass to Versailles 20 Euro for those 18+ during the week and 25 Euro on the weekends and holidays, but this provides a full pass to virtually all of Versailles, including the Queen and King’s State Apartments (they had their own), the Marie-Aintoinette Estate (from April to October). For an additional 6 Euro, or 10 on the weekends, an audio guide is available. If waiting in line isn’t your thing, it’s recommended that you visit on Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday; however the Palace is closed on Mondays.
