Most people who take group tours to Ireland either head to a major destination (such as Dublin) or they plan their full-country tours around a specific type of sight (such as Irish pubs!) Ireland’s a great place and there’s no wrong way to see it but you might be better served by taking your group on a more unique vacation in Ireland. Western Ireland is a great group travel destination because it offers you a range of different sites and plenty of the great Irish culture while keeping you somewhat off-the-beaten path enough to make it affordable.

One of the most stunning aspects of West Ireland is its coastline. Most people don’t think about Ireland as a place to see the coast since it’s more known for its rolling greenery but the steep western cliffside offers some of the most stunning views of the water that you can find on any vacation. Groups can spend an entire day hiking or picnicking in the area or may even wish to travel right up to coast to get the full experience of West Ireland. There are numerous small coastal villages that offer interesting lodging options for groups, including full rentals of bed-and-breakfasts to overnight stays in ancient Irish castles.
West Ireland gives your group a chance to experience both these small coastal towns and the more urban life that the country has to offer. Make a stop in Westport to enjoy shopping and spa time. You can also get outdoors in this area (as well as all throughout Western Ireland) for such activities as horseback riding, cycling and golf. There are also a number of lakes in the region for those who prefer activities on the water. And if you’ve got an all-ages group, there are family activities in Western Ireland which include the country’s largest aquarium and a number of caves that can be explored. Why go to just one city in the area when you can see a whole region?
