If your group decides to visit Australia’s second largest city, Melbourne, you’d better be prepared for arguments over which cultural spot to hit each day. Melbourne’s renowned as being multicultural and multifaceted, showing Australia’s melting pot to the full.
- Melbourne Museum: This museum represents life across the state of Victoria, not just its capital city. Regular exhibitions cover a huge range of subjects, from animals to sports and Aboriginal culture to beauty contests. A real something for everyone kind of place.
- Immigration Museum: Also a part of the state museum collection, the Immigration Museum focuses on the very mixed cultural backgrounds and stories of Australian citizens. It’s a way to meet a lot of different Australians without having to search too hard for them.
- Scienceworks: A great place to go if your group includes children, the Scienceworks museum is one of those typically fun, interactive science centers which also has links to the Melbourne Planetarium.
- Australian Racing Museum: Horse racing is an institution in Melbourne, home to the annual Melbourne Cup race that stops everyone across Australia. You can get an insight into this unusual aspect of Australian culture, making it a must for all horse lovers, gamblers and curious onlookers.
