Combining a group trip with some kind of volunteer work can be really rewarding. The gang at the Volunteer Brazil program encourage group bookings and have a few interesting projects operating at the moment. Teaching English or helping in an orphanage are fairly common volunteer placements, but if you’re planning a group trip to help with teambuilding or group cohesion, then there are some better suited activities offered by Volunteer Brazil.

  1. Housebuilding. Whether or not you have any experience or training in construction, your group can work together here, helping locals to get the skills need to build accommodation for the homeless.
  2. Helping street kids. Your team can work on distributing food and clothing and playing games with the children.
  3. Conservation work. You and your group can work in the Atlantic-side forest of Brazil, maintaining trails, and along the coastline, helping to protect the habitat of the sea horses.
  4. Tourism development. Working with local staff, you might be responsible for teaching them English, producing tourist brochures in English or other kinds of PR activities.
  5. Sports coaching. Get your sports group trip down there to help coach and referee sports matches, and also experience how you can still play sports well even without the expensive facilities we’re used to.
