The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are the embodiment of America’s field of dreams and a visit here can be a very special experience in the celebration of your American roots. Your visit here is all what you make it, whether it’s an hour or the whole day. The American Family Immigration History Center is the focal point of Ellis Island, and how amazing would it be to view immigration manifests of your ancestors or Bob Hope or Max Factor? This amazing database contains the records of some 25 million immigrants to the US. The Statue of Liberty is equally amazing and worthy of some attention. Reservations are not required to visit the Statue of Liberty, however if you plan on entering the monument itself, you will need a “Time Pass, which can be arranged in advance over the phone or online at www.statuecruises.com. Unfortunately, in the aftermath of 9/11, the crown is closed off to the public and it’s not possible to climb up there anymore since an immediate evacuation isn’t possible on an emergency basis. Nonetheless, the promenade offers a splendid view of the New York harbor and Lady Liberty herself. Here we’ve thought all of these years that the French didn’t like us!
