When you’re planning a group trip, you have to take into consideration the likes and dislikes of your travel companions. This can be a difficult task, largely depending on the size and type of group with which you are traveling. Pleasing everyone hardly seems possible. To this I say, “Consider Maine.”

One of the most naturally beautiful states in our country, Maine offers nearly everything a visitor could want. Miles and miles of beautiful coastline can be just steps from your front door, catering to shellers, boaters, crabbers, and those that simply like to sightsee. There’s bound to be an activity or two to please every member of your group, no matter how picky they may be.

Take a cruise with your travel buddies, enjoying the beautiful Atlantic waters, the scent of salt on the breeze, and the magnificent views as your guide recounts years of Maine’s rich maritime history. Visit one of the area’s sandy beaches, and enjoy digging your toes into the sand and watching seagulls swoop above your heads. Fish off a pier, into the surf, or simply rent a charter boat for the day and catch the meals for the rest of your trip.

If you head inland, you’ll discover quaint towns perfect for antiquing, finding a delicious meal, and simply enjoying the unique New England atmosphere. Traipse through the local forests, follow hiking trails along the creeks and river beds, and become one with nature, even for just a moment. Go white water rafting, take a canoe out onto one of Maine’s pristine lakes, and swim in the cool, clean waters of the state’s many water holes.

And don’t forget that Maine will treat you to a host of colors, especially in the fall. Even those who aren’t the typical sightseeing type can’t tear themselves away from the reds, yellows, and oranges smeared across the landscape as Maine’s trees give way to winter’s cold grip.

Truly, Maine has all every a heart could desire, so next time you need to plan that trip for 10, just think Maine.
