Would you be interested in taking your group to a dynamic museum where history comes alive? If so, The Field Museum in Chicago could be a great destination for you. First opened over 100 years ago, The Field Museum itself is a historical landmark. Featuring exhibits related to archaeology, art and science, it also explores various aspects of history in a fun setting where people of any age can have a great learning experience.

Examples of permanent exhibits that you can see at The Field Museum include bird habitats and the mammals of Africa in the “animals, plants and ecosystems” area, a reconstructed Pawnee Earth Lodge in “The Americas” history area, and “Inside Ancient Egypt” in the cultural section of the museum. A favorite area is Evolving Planet which shows the growth of the earth from the dinosaurs through today. In addition to the numerous permanent exhibits at The Field Museum, there are regularly changing temporary exhibits and a busy calendar of events.

The Field Museum is open from 9-5 daily except on Christmas Day. There are periodic days throughout the year when the museum closes early so check the website or call in advance before planning your group trip. Groups of fifteen or more can request group tickets online. There are discount days when tickets are cheaper so if your group is on a budget, you’ll want to look in to that as well.

Once your group is done exploring all that there is to see at The Field Museum, you can wander over to the John G. Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium, two other museums which are located on the same grounds and which offer more fun and entertainment for you. And from there, you have the whole fabulous city of Chicago awaiting your adventurous spirit!
