Its world famous boardwalk spans six miles and attracts millions of visitors each year. The Atlantic City Boardwalk was constructed in 1870 and was the world’s first boardwalk. It also boasts being the longest in existence today. Stroll along the boardwalk and you will view the beach-goers, the swimmers taking a dip in the ocean - smell the salt water taffy and hear the excitement of the slots inside the casinos.
You can find a multitude of gaming opportunities from the hotels/casinos along the boardwalk. You can also drive down the the marina area, where more hotels and casinos can be found. Most hotels have several choices in terms of dining options from snack locations to upscale full dining experiences. Even if you are not a gambler, you cannot beat the excitement level inside the casino - the hotels are worthwhile to visit just for the shopping venues and the exquisite restaurants.
Outdoor activities in the Atlantic City area include whale watching, canoe and kayak rentals and a championship golf course. Wine lovers can visit one of the oldest operating wineries in the US - The Renault Winery, or one of the other five wineries in the area. Visitors also love to stop by Historic Smithville, featuring over 60 shops and restaurants - walk the cobblestone streets and visit these late 18th century buildings.
