With the presidential election in full swing, people are more interested than usual in what is going on with their country. And that goes for the country’s past as well. This makes it a perfect time to go on a group trip which touches on some of that history.

The most obvious place to go for such a vacation is, of course, Washington D.C. However, it’s not the only option for a group history experience. Maryland is another terrific destination because of its extensive association with historical political events. Likewise, Philadelphia and New York City provide plenty of landmarks for beefing up on your American history.

For a really interesting experience which is less about the history of the U.S. than modern-day politics, a trip to the hometown of a favorite candidate could be in order. These towns are filled with campaign energy and will be happy to provide you with information. And you’ll also get a chance to see a city you perhaps haven’t thought to visit before which likely has an interesting role in America’s history.

The current political campaign has been rich with public interest in diverse candidates. Any trip that honors the history of women’s rights, African American history and the history of politics in general is sure to be rich with discoveries. It will also give your group a lot to talk about during the trip.
