Prices are going up at all of the country’s national parks. The plan is to raise the rates of all national park entrance fees to a minimum of $10 and a maximum of $25 over the next several years. After that, rate increases at each park should be expected every few years in accordance with inflation. From the government’s standpoint, the rate increases make sense because they help cover the costs of keeping the parks safe and clean so that we can keep visiting them. However, from a consumer’s standpoint, going to see nature is starting to get awfully pricey.

Many people are protesting the rate increases and trying to get their local parks to refuse to institute higher rates. If you’ve got a group that does a lot of traveling in and around national parks, you might want to add your voice to the debate. The options aren’t just to have or not have a rate increase. There are other issues at stake, such as discounted rates for groups of certain sizes as well as discounted rates for annual passes to groups that go to multiple parks.
