Money magazine named Middleton, Wisconsin the number one place to live in the United States, but what is it about this town that earns it such high praise? Money cites economic opportunities, the quality of the schools, safety, the proximity to the state capitol and the amount of green space.

For years Middleton has been known as the Good Neighbor Community and its friendly reputation draws visitors to the city who stay for its exceptional shopping, fabulous dining and quality accommodations.

Located adjacent to Madison, the state capitol, Middleton could simply rely on the big city to entertain the masses, but this town of less than 20,000 fills its dance card with such excitement that Madisonians flock to the suburb for fun. Some highlights:

  • Capitol Brewery, a working microbrewery specializing in German lagers and seasonal entertainment.
  • Middleton’s Farmer’s Market: Its Thursday-only schedule makes it less crowded than others in the area.
  • Pheasant Branch Conservancy, one of the many green spaces praised by Money magazine.
