2 years and $109 million later, the renovation of the Liberty Science Museum is now complete, and it’s open to the public. Located in Jersey City, NJ, the Liberty Science Museums has added 100,000 square feet of exhibit space to the science museum as well as the nation’s largest IMAX Dome Theater. The goal in mind was to reshape how people interpret science museums. The museum is changing gears from focusing on the past to highlight the effects of modern day living impact the scientific world.
In the past, the museum focused mainly on the younger school age demographic; however that is evolving into exhibits that will be educational to people of all ages. One of the more interesting and one of a kind exhibitions is the “Skyscraper! Achievement and Impact..” The exhibition offers a glimpse into the planning and design of skyscrapers, and also how they impact our environment and even our weather. Another cool feature that the kids will bring endless delight to the children is the 20-foot long wind tunnel where you can change the wind speed and how it affects the buildings. The exhibition on the Hudson River, which made a major contribution to the development of American commerce, is especially poignant and shows the steep price that the wildlife have paid. Hopefully, a trip to this museum will make you question your day to day lifestyle choices and how they impact the environment.
