As the years pass families grow and expand and tend to grow apart. For some families the only time they all get together is that rare family reunion. And how much fun is a family reunion anyway? You are forced to try Aunt Mildred’s rancid potato salad and smile and nod as your Uncle Phil gives you a detailed description of his recent battle with gout.
If you’re looking for a way to improve the quality of your family reunion and boost attendance, consider a destination reunion. Each family is different so no destination reunion will suit every family but there are several different routes you can take.
The Ancestry Tour: Go back to your family roots. If there is a family historian have them suggest the a few locations. Perhaps you could visit the first place your family resided when they arrived in the United States. Maybe a family member was once a political leader or influential person in a community and it could be time to relive the glory days.
Family Fun Vacation: If your family has a lot of younger members then the home of the Mouse might be a big hit with everyone. Don’t forget to let the travel agent, hotel, and theme park know you’re bringing a large group and you’re more than happy to take advantage of any and all discounts they want to make available to you. If Mickey isn’t quite what you’re looking for then how about a regional hotel with a water park, or a smaller amusement park, either of these locations is bound to offer you a decent group discount.
Adult Playtime: If you have an older family group how about a trip to the biggest adult playground in the world, Las Vegas. The city is not just known for its gambling, late night parties, and shows, it’s also known for offering incredible group deals and discounts. Scoop some of the bargains up and create some family bonding memories that will last forever.
