Planning a group vacation is no easy task. And planning where you will all lay your heads at the end of each night is one of the more difficult aspects of the job, although it is frequently overlooked. When people go away on vacation, they want to settle down at night in a place that feels safe and comfortable. Unfortunately, that means very different things to different people.
Accommodations can range from simple and affordable motels to expensive luxury resorts. You can choose in-room amenities such as massages and high speed Internet connections or it the standard old bed-in-a-room. The hotel itself may be a bed-and-breakfast with a cozy air or it may be a tower of professionalism in a city’s downtown area. And each of these options is comforting to some travelers while disconcerting to others.
To find a hotel that meets the needs of everyone on a group trip, you should poll the group in advance. Create a chart showing the different options and find out what a majority of the group wants in terms of their hotel criteria. Select several hotels in the destination area that meet the criteria agreed upon by the group. Allow the group to vote from these choices. This makes everyone feel involved in the process and make booking the rooms that much easier.
