Group vacations present the perfect opportunity for creating not only memories but also scrapbooks filled with images of those memories. Here are a few tips for getting great photos on your trip:

• Take only one or two shots of the entire group. These can be planned shots in front of famous attractions. Since you’re only doing one or two, no one will mind taking the time to make it perfect. It’s best if you have a camera with a self-timer and someone who knows how to use it but if you have to solicit a bystander to take the photo, you can.
• Give disposable cameras to everyone in the group. People see things lydifferent ways and capture different parts of the trip so this gives a great overall perspective on those memories.
• Take a lot of candid pictures. How many times can the kids all smile next to a statue or landmark? But if you just snap away, while your friends are laughing and playing, the shots are more likely to turn out good.
• Get people talking about something that excites them. Excitement and energy create better group pictures. If everyone’s animated around a restaurant table, the picture will reflect that animation. And you might even remember what you were talking about.
• Scrapbook the photos when you get home. Even shots that didn’t come out great can look really good when you set them against a background and include some ticket stubs and other memories. You can create individual scrapbooks for everyone in the group or scan one scrapbook to create a digital slideshow for everyone.
