Eductional tours give students a chance to travel abroad and encounter new cultures, sights, and ideas. Several companies organize tours just for students and their teachers at affordable rates, with special learning experiences built into the program. The most established of these companies, and arguably the best, is EF Tours.

Founded in 1965 in Sweden EF (”Education First”) now has offices in 50 countries. Their programs include flights, ground transportation, comfortable accommodations, most meals, and the services of a full-time tour director. Unlike traditional bus tours, EF’s tours focus on “learning by living” and offer unique experiences, such as pizza-making lessons from a local chef in Rome, Fado lessons in Madrid, a drama class at the Globe Theater in London, or a chance to have dinner with a local family in China. Some programs even give students high school or college credit for their participation.

EF tours range from a few days to several weeks and travel to Europe, Asia, Australia, Latin America, and Africa. They make it easy on students and their parents. Participants can pay gradually into a savings fund for the trip.
